The University of Bologna, one of the most prestigious of Italian universities, is a leading academic institution in Italy and Europe, often considered a point of reference for European culture. The Department of Economics of the Bologna University (Italy) offers Postdoc positions financed by the Italian Ministry of Education and Research. The fellowships are offered in the context of the project entitled “The Legacy of History for Long Term Development”.
The focus of the research is on the determinants of long-term comparative development and contemporary socioeconomic outcomes, with a special focus on the role – the emergence, evolution, and disappearance – of institutions at the disaggregate level and their interactions with geographic and socio-economic variables. The project requires dealing with multi-disciplinary problems with a wide spectrum of theoretical and empirical techniques. The full time positions target young researchers with some background in literature. Knowledge of specific tools and methods for systematic data collection is desirable. The researchers will carry out datasets construction using original historical and modern economic sources exploiting data collection techniques.

The candidates are expected to have:
- Good knowledge of Stata, GIS, Python, R, and other softwares.
- PhD degree in Economics or related fields, or research experience at a PhD level .
- Good theoretical base and empirical skills.
- Ability to work in teams.
At a full-time salary of € 19.367 per annum that is exempt from withholding tax and includes all statutory social security charges. The positions come with research funds, equipment, and endowment for travelling.
