This postdoctoral position is a full-time temporary employment. The research project is interdisciplinary from its foundation onward, drawing together scholars from different disciplines to conduct in-depth and multi-faceted research on climate change denial including both national case studies, global linkages and cross-national comparisons. Existing research suggests that extractive industries have played a central part in climate politics at multiple scales.  Which role do extractive industries with large emissions of CO2 play in a country such as Sweden? How do they present global climate change and their role in it? This project will take an environmental historical approach and research reports, environmental assessments, public speeches and archival material for these large companies 1960-2000.  Research will proceed via key-actor interviews and document/ archival analysis. Attention will be paid to the activities of particular companies and of industry associations. Comparisons with other countries via the international collaboratory network of the research project will be based on thematic coding of interviews and documents, as well as detailed chronologies of events, political debates, and key moments of policy and legislative decision-making.
