Program Details

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. The University has 40 000 students and 7 400 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. The Faculty of Law is one of Lund University´s four founding faculties. The Faculty has approximately 2 000 students enrolled in first and second-cycle courses and programs, around 160 staff members including 40 doctoral students. 

Economic law relates to the study of public and private law, and concerns both the conduct of the state (or states) in relation to economic relationships and issues and the conduct of private parties involved in economic and business transactions. Economic law encompasses a wide range of topics, for example, labour law, company law, tax and finance law, commercial law, trade law, investment law, competition law and law and economics. The post-doctoral position covers the study of economic law at a national level and/or international level (including regional law, such as WTO law and European law).  

Mainly research but work duties include teaching for up to a maximum of 20 per cent of working hours as well as cooperation with wider society.

The researchers and teachers at the Faculty are expected to contribute to a dynamic research environment as well as to other Faculty activities and to perform work primarily in the workplace provided by the Faculty.

Eligibility/ Requirements

A person who has been awarded a doctor’s degree in legal science or a degree deemed equivalent to a doctor’s degree in legal science shall be qualified for appointment as a postdoctoral fellow. The doctor´s degree must be completed no more than three years prior to the application deadline. Candidates who have completed their degree earlier than this can be considered if special grounds exist. Special grounds include leave of absence because of illness, parental leave, positions as elected representatives in trade union organisations and other similar circumstances.

Applicants with a good ability to develop and carry out research of good quality as well as teaching skills are encouraged to apply. The primary focus of the assessment shall be on research expertise. Attention will also be paid to the applicants’ subject knowledge of economic law.

  • a plan of the research project (including plan of publications) the candidate wants to pursue as a post-doctoral researcher (max. 5 pages)
  • list of the PhD thesis and two other academic texts the candidate wishes to submit for assessment
  • the PhD thesis and two other academic texts
  • short description of teaching qualifications

The position is based on a collective agreement between the social partners (trade unions and employer’s organisation) dated 4 September 2008. Salary is determined on an individual basis, within certain guidelines for this type of position. Please indicate a salary request in your application.
