Program Details

Chemnitz University of Technology (CUT) is a public university in Chemnitz, Germany. With over 11,000 students, it is the third largest university in Saxony. It was founded in 1836 as Königliche Gewerbeschule and was elevated to a Technische Hochschule, a university of technology, in 1963. CUT offers outstanding education to its students, providing them with various and attractive career perspectives. Owing to an excellent professor-to-student ratio, CUT ranks among the top five universities in Germany with respect to the quality of teaching.

The advanced chemical and physical aspects of modern materials and the transfer of skills in synthesis, development, analysis and manufacturing of functional materials are the key issues of the program Advanced Functional Materials. The research-oriented extension and intensification of physical and chemical knowledge are based on advanced practical training in current research fields in a modern laboratory environment. The interdisciplinary program consists of courses in materials chemistry and materials physics as well as an advanced practical training on methods of modern material science.

Eligibility/ Requirements

  • A university Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science degrees from universities other than Chemnitz University of Technology are to be checked by a board of examiners on the basis of the record of study. The applicant is to provide this record of study.
  • English language proficiency at Level B2 according to the CEFR.
