Insight: Where in the World You Have the Best Chance of Getting an Employment as a Foreign-born Person?
Do you think the foreign-born people get most employment in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia or Canada? No.
If you go by the percentage of employment across the OECD countries, it is Iceland! In 2017, 88% of the foreign-born people in this super small Nordic country has employment. Following Iceland came Israel and the Czech Republic with about 79 and 78 percent.
A corollary to this, is the foreign-born people more successful in getting employed than the native-born people? Yes, mostly.
Except for in Switzerland, of the top five countries where foreign-born persons were employed, they had a better proportion than those native-born persons. In the United States, the chances of a foreign-born person to get employed are slightly higher whereas in Germany it is lower compared to the native-born people.
