The University of Applied Sciences Niederrhein aims to collaborate closely with business and industry in many different ways, thereby delivering crucial impetus and momentum for the dynamic research activities. The University highlights the significance of innovative research. This approach prepares the students for a demanding and high-quality career life than that of having spent several years working on and dealing with applied research projects. 

In the wake of increasing internationalization and shifting textile markets, a growing number of graduates with fluent English skills and interface competencies is in demand. The degree program Textile and Clothing Management is specifically tailored to the needs of the international textile and clothing sector. The program is offered completely in English. In this course, the students acquire an overarching knowledge about textile and clothing technology as well as management practice.

This seven-semester Bachelor’s degree program offers an impressive curriculum of subjects in textile and clothing technology and related fields such as chemistry, design and technical textiles and subjects in management and business administration like controlling, fashion retailing logistics, eCommerce and marketing. Under the instruction of internationally renowned professors and scientific and well-educated staff, the course guarantees a scientific education oriented on the demands of industrial branches and international business. The course program is completely taught in English.

The Bachelor’s course consists of five parts: 10% Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Information Technology, 30% Textile Technology covering the complete textile chain, 30% Management and Business Administration, 25% Clothing Technology,
5% additional subjects like Design, Communication and Intercultural Management. In addition to that, English language skills are offered (Technical and Business English) as well as practical training in different labs (Spinning, Weaving, Knitting, Sewing, Finishing, Colour Printing of Textiles, CAD systems, Quality Testing). A study work and two project works are obligatory in addition to an internship or a study semester abroad. Soft skills are offered in seminars/workshops to increase general competencies.

Eligibility/ Requirements

  • General higher education entrance qualification (University or Fachhochschule), School-leaving certificate from a Specialised Upper Secondary School (Fachoberschule) or other equivalent certificates (e.g. entrance examination to “Master Craftsman/Craftswoman studies: “Meisterstudium”)
  • Applicants must provide proof of their English skills, at least level B2 of CEFR, TOEFL (Internet-based): 68, IELTS: band 6 or equivalent.

Application Process

All applications of interested students, who have not the nationality from a country within the European Union (EU), Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway will be pre-checked by uni-assist. More exceptions are listed below.

Along with the application form, please submit a copy of the following documents:

  • School-leaving certificate (officially-authenticated copy)
  • Possibly: Your current university certificates (degree certificate/overview over all subjects and grades, grading system of the university – officially-authenticated copy)
  • Your APS document, if you come from China, Mongolia or Vietnam (original)
  • Possibly: Proof of degree-course related practical activities (copies)
  • Proof of the required language certificates or the registration for the language test (officially-authenticated copy)

Please note that the application documents must usually be submitted in the original language along with an officially-authenticated translation if the original language is not German or English.
